We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to b e patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential. -Ellen Goodman
So, you have been so busy trying to achieve success that you probably missed the fact that you, to some degree, already have. This is a common occurrence for many people and if you want to create more success in your life, you are going to need to learn how to pat yourself on the back.
I understand that the practice of acknowledging achievements is usually reserved for the achievements of other people, but if you want to move to the next level, you are going to have to teach that old brain some new tricks.
Train the Brain
I’m not saying that you should rest on your laurels every time that you make a sale or clean your room or bead a new piece of jewelry, but much like when something distracting or counterproductive happens you need to ‘let it go,’ you also need to acknowledge your achievements in hopes that your subconscious will ‘let it stay.’
Briefly, the way that relationship works, the whole subconscious-conscious minds thing, is that the subconscious mind basically records everything on a emotional and sensory level and then directly influences your conscious mind as to what to do. If you have, in your subconscious mind, created associations between your achievements (however regular or sparse they may be) and wonderful sensations of worth, strength, love, etc. – your conscious mind will move towards recreating those wonderful sensations. Therefore you will have more achievements and create more success. If you have trained your brain properly, you will continue to create more success and have a happier life in the process. Not only that, but it will snowball until you don’t even have to think about it. You will work hard to achieve and take the time to honor your achievement(s) automatically.
Take the Time
Now, as simple as that may sound to you, it does take time. I’m not talking about that ‘you had better get ready for a long road ahead’ kind of time, no, I am talking about that ‘ten to fifteen minutes each day’ kind of time. Time each day to, in whatever manner works best for you, reflect on your achievements. You may write them down, draw a diagram, just lay back and think about them – whichever you choose. Personally, I talk to myself (inherited from my Mother,) and so that method works well for me. In fact, one method that I began using and continue to use to create more success is to record myself with my recorder as I reflect on my achievement(s) and refer back to those recordings from time to time for new ideas and inspiration. Regardless of the method that you choose, setting aside that time is key to your personal and professional growth.
You Deserve It
If you are asserting yourself and accomplishing tasks you deserve recognition from yourself, and as you can see, you can actually train your brain to create more achievements. So, give yourself that time each day and you will begin to create more success in your life.
This is my first post to my new site, Create More Success (or CMS.) I wanted to explain quickly how the site was born, how it will be of great benefit to you and how it will help you to create more success in your life.
